Bridging Clinical Care and Research Through Real-World Data

Concert AI executives discussed how the company's integration of CancerLink has expanded the platform beyond quality reporting, using artificial intelligence to deliver faster clinical insights, improve trial matching, and support oncology practices with real-time data.

Artificial intelligence is reshaping how oncology practices access and use clinical data, and Concert AI is aiming to accelerate that transformation through its continued development of CancerLink. During an interview with BioPharm International®, Eron Kelly, chief executive officer of ConcertAI, and Shaalan Beg, MD, chief medical officer of oncology, discussed how the company has expanded the platform following its acquisition of CancerLink.

How has Concert AI expanded CancerLink to support oncology care and clinical research?

Kelly explained that CancerLink initially focused on helping oncology practices automate quality measure reporting for ASCO certification. Since the acquisition, the platform has expanded significantly.

"What we've done is sort of taken it to a new level," Kelly said. "It starts with our very deep investment in bringing AI into the curation process of all the unstructured notes, the genetic reports, the NGS reports, the pathology reports."

By applying AI to curate both structured and unstructured clinical information, Concert AI has dramatically shortened the time required to generate actionable insights. Kelly said processes that previously could take an entire quarter can now be completed in approximately one week.

"Now we're able to curate that in a week," Kelly said. "That unlocks entirely new scenarios around clinical trial matching."

The accelerated data processing has enabled the company to introduce several new capabilities, including TrialLink for clinical trial matching, PatientLink for clinical decision support, and CancerLink Discovery, which supports research using de-identified patient data.

Beg said one of the platform's greatest strengths is its ability to support both patient care and research within the same workflow.

He added that the platform was designed to operate independently of any single electronic health record or diagnostic vendor, allowing practices to integrate information from multiple sources.

"It's an EHR agnostic solution," Beg said. "It's vendor agnostic in that it doesn't depend on what type of genomic vendor or other imaging vendor a company is using. All the data is harmonized and can give the insights back into the practices."

According to Beg, that flexibility has become increasingly important as oncology treatment decisions rely on more sophisticated biomarker testing and rapidly evolving therapeutic options. By combining AI-driven data harmonization with more frequent data updates, Concert AI aims to provide oncology teams with timely insights that can support clinical decision-making while strengthening clinical research efforts.
