Isomorphic Labs’ $2.1 billion financing will support expansion of its AI-driven drug discovery platform and advancement of therapeutic candidates toward clinical development.

London-based Isomorphic Labs has raised $2.1 billion in Series B financing to expand its artificial intelligence (AI)-driven drug design platform, scale global operations, and advance its therapeutic pipeline toward clinical development. The investment will support continued development of its AI drug design engine, IsoDDE, and expansion of its internal and partnered drug development programs.1

The funding round was led by Thrive Capital and included participation from existing investors Alphabet and GV, alongside new investors MGX, Temasek, CapitalG, and the UK Sovereign AI Fund. The financing will also support hiring efforts across AI, engineering, drug design, and clinical development functions at the company’s global sites.

“This funding round is a massive vote of confidence from a diverse group of top-tier international investors in our AI-first approach to drug design and development,” said Demis Hassabis, PhD, founder and chief executive officer of Isomorphic Labs, in a company press release.1 “This capital injection allows us to build out our drug design engine at scale, driving us forward in our mission to solve all disease.”

How is the company expanding AI-driven drug discovery?

“This funding round is a massive vote of confidence from a diverse group of top-tier international investors in our AI-first approach to drug design and development. This capital injection allows us to build out our drug design engine at scale, driving us forward in our mission to solve all disease.”

The funding will accelerate Isomorphic Labs’ transition from developing foundational AI models to deploying those technologies at larger scale across therapeutic research programs. Its IsoDDE technology platform integrates proprietary AI models designed to support drug discovery across multiple therapeutic areas and drug modalities. The company recently disclosed capabilities related to predictive modeling and biological system analysis intended to improve precision in drug design.2

The platform is a unified AI drug design engine designed to bridge structural biology prediction with applied drug discovery workflows. According to the company, the technology is designed to improve predictive accuracy and accelerate candidate identification.

“This milestone is built on the strength of our AI drug design engine, which has already proven its worth across our internal programs by hitting key milestones and identifying viable candidates with unprecedented speed,” said Max Jaderberg, PhD, president of Isomorphic Labs, in the release.1 “Our drug design engine works, and it's giving us a repeatable way to design new medicines for a wide range of diseases, building a future of medicine that was previously out of reach.ˮ

What role do partnerships play in Isomorphic Labs’ strategy?

The company maintains collaborations with several major pharmaceutical companies, including Novartis, Eli Lilly and Company, and Johnson & Johnson, which support validation of its AI-first drug discovery approach and provide opportunities to apply its platform across multiple disease areas.

Investors participating in the financing round also emphasized the company’s progress in integrating AI into therapeutic development workflows.

“The application of AI in healthcare offers a profound opportunity,” said Ruth Porat, president and chief investment officer of Alphabet and Google, in the release.1 “This trajectory is encouraging, and this funding will be used to accelerate the work and bring important interventions to market with greater speed.”

How does this financing position the company for future growth?

“We believe [Isomorphic Labs’] approach can create important medicines that will be better understood earlier in the process, pushing the boundaries of what’s been possible before,” said Krishna Yeshwant, MD, managing partner at GV, in the release.1

The new funding will support advancement of both partnered and wholly owned therapeutic programs, according ot the company. It will also expand the company’s underlying infrastructure supporting its AI models and development capabilities.
