Three case studies show how automated Raman plate reading can triage samples before chromatography in bioprocess development.

Fiona Xi Xu received her PhD in chemistry from the University of Washington under the advisement of Dan Fu. Her graduate research focused on quantitative analysis of protein and lipid metabolism in cells and tissues using advanced vibrational spectroscopy techniques, particularly stimulated Raman scattering microscopy. She is currently a life science applications scientist at Horiba, where she specializes in Raman spectroscopy for life science and biopharmaceutical applications, using platforms ranging from confocal Raman microscopes to process and high-throughput Raman instruments.
