Harbour BioMed, a global biopharmaceutical company with operations in Cambridge, Mass.; Rotterdam, Netherlands; and Shanghai, China, has entered a strategic collaboration with China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) to form the Sinopharm-Harbour BioMed Innovation Consortium, aimed at advancing joint research and development of innovative biologics.1

"We are delighted to establish this strategic partnership with Sinopharm," said Jingsong Wang, MD, PhD, founder, chairman, and CEO of Harbour BioMed, in a company press release.1 "This partnership with Sinopharm represents another important step in advancing our 'platform + pipeline' strategy in China."
What does the collaboration cover?
The 2 companies will work across the full R&D lifecycle for innovative biologics, with a strategic focus on oncology, immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, and other therapeutic areas. Harbour BioMed will apply its Harbour Mice fully human antibody technology platform and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled drug discovery capabilities to the discovery and optimization of antibody candidates alongside Sinopharm.
Sinopharm will contribute clinical development expertise, large-scale manufacturing, and commercialization capabilities and will be responsible for developing commercial-scale manufacturing processes, producing clinical trial materials, and commercializing any resulting products. The companies will jointly fund R&D activities under the consortium and share product rights according to mutually agreed terms. Specific financial terms were not disclosed.

What is the Harbour BioMed Mice platform?
Harbour Mice is Harbour BioMed's proprietary antibody technology platform, generating fully human monoclonal antibodies in both the conventional two-heavy, two-light chain (H2L2) format and the heavy chain-only (HCAb) format. Built on the HCAb format, the company's HBICE bispecific antibody technology is designed to enable tumor-killing effects that traditional combination therapies cannot achieve, while its HCAb Plus technology is intended to provide comprehensive modality solutions for developing multispecific medicines across different disease areas.
The company has also launched a fully human generative AI HCAb model, powered by its Hu-mAtrIx AI platform, which the company said is intended to accelerate development of new antibody therapies.1 The company describes its combination of Harbour Mice, HBICE, HCAb Plus, a single B-cell cloning platform, and AI technologies as a distinctive antibody discovery engine for next-generation therapeutic antibodies.1
