Pall ForteBio Releases Bioprocessing Contamination Detection Kit

Pall ForteBio introduces a solution for quantifying residual host cell proteins in CHO cells.

Pall ForteBio announced on Oct. 20, 2014 the launch of a new solution for quantifying contaminating residual host cell proteins (HCPs) in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells, the most commonly used mammalian hosts for industrial production of recombinant protein therapies. The new tool, the Dip and Read Anti-CHO Host Cell Protein Detection Kit, helps with the detection and reduction of residual HCPs that are left behind by CHO cells. The residual products can negatively affect the efficacy and safety of a final drug product. The kit accelerates the drug delivery timeline by providing better assay precision and complements Pall’s ForteBio Octet Platform.

“The commonly used ELISA HCP analytical method can require up to overnight analysis and must be monitored. Our new Dip and Read high-precision assay kit, in combination with the Octet HTX system, is hands-free, and only takes around an hour to analyze 96 samples with detection sensitivity as low as 0.5 ng/mL,” says Yves Baratelli, president of Pall Life Sciences, in a press release. “This translates into a dramatic advance in the user’s process, and a drastic reduction in their time and capital investment from development through to production.”
