Bausch’s second generation Type 529 is a semi-automatic IV bag filling and closing machine designed for aseptic packaging of infusions, parenteral drugs, and other fluids with a fully integrated automatic closing system to eliminate possible contamination. The system handles IV bags from 10 mL-10 L, with the ability to produce up to 1600 aseptic bags in one hour, and the updated design is suited for isolator or closed restricted access barrier systems applications because it eliminates obstruction of the laminar air flow into the open bag.

Up to four filling and closing stations can be added to the system using the original electronics, industrial personal computer, and human machine interface to expand versatility and allow for production growth. Dosing technology options for the system include mass flow, peristaltic pump, servo-operated pinched valve, and rotary piston pumps, all with the option of process control technology. Other options include hard port or flexible tubing closures; high frequency, ultrasonic, or heat sealing technologies; and air evacuating and pre- and/or post-gassing system and can be integrated with clean-in-place or sterilize-in-place systems.
