BioPharm International and Pharmaceutical Technology present the INTERPHEX Keynote Series: Aseptic, Sterile, and Biologics Drug Manufacturing to held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. The series begins with a session at 1:30 pm on analytical best practices in lyophilization and moves into a 2:15 pm panel discussion on developing an end-to-end approach for continuous biomanufacturing. The sessions will be held on the show floor at the Innovation Stage and are open to all show attendees.

Analytical Best Practices in Lyophilization

Developing standard practice for measuring and monitoring process conditions will be required to establish improved control of freeze drying. In this session, Professor Alexeenko will focus on key issues and best practices designed to produce optimal results.

Presenter: Alina Alexeenko, Professor, Purdue University; Chair, LyoHub

Continuous Manufacturing for Biopharm, Visions of an End-to-End Approach

To date, the adoption of continuous manufacturing technology for bioprocessing remains slow, and where the technology is being used, it is limited to either downstream or upstream processing. This panel will discuss the major challenges, such as technology hurdles and regulatory or business roadblocks, that biomanufacturers face in implementing continuous manufacturing. The panel will also explore the missing links in equipment or technology that are preventing the establishment of a fully integrated continuous manufacturing process for biologics.

Moderators: Rita Peters, Editorial Director, and Feliza Mirasol, Science Editor, Pharmaceutical Technology and BioPharm International

Panel participants:

Merrilee Whitney, Head of Next Generation Bioprocessing, MilliporeSigma

Surendra Balekai, Senior Global Product Manager—SUT, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Parish Galliher, Chief Technology Officer Upstream, GE Healthcare Life Sciences

Peter Levison, PhD, Senior Marketing Director, Downstream Processing, Pall Biotech
