LEVERAGING NEW PROCESS TECHNOLOGIES
The IBC Manufacturing and Distribution Summit held in Washington, D.C., in December 2005 provided a glimpse into the concerns
of industry professionals. By far, the most popular session focused on the use of disposables. From an operations excellence
standpoint, this makes sense — streamlining changeovers is a key initiative many companies have already pursued. And disposables
can greatly reduce the load on production and quality resources, while accelerating production processes. The financial argument
for adopting this in a capacity-constrained environment is abundantly clear. As we identify topics for future meetings, we
will explore at how companies are using disposables to drive operational improvements.
THE CONSORTIUM 2006
Due to the popular support for the consortium over the past several years, Tefen is committed to conducting future events.
We plan to hold an executive forum April 20–21, with the theme, "Future Plant 2015." The forum will include a visioning session,
attempting to define what an operationally excellent plant will look like in the not-so-distant future, as well as the tools
that will be required to get there. Participants will discuss the future of quality, R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain
processes and systems. We also plan to conduct four additional meetings through the rest of the year, hopefully addressing
the challenges highlighted earlier.
